One of the nation’s largest urban coastal communities is seeking a talented professional to fill the new position of Financial Controls Bureau Manager which was created to kick-start and guide further improvements to the City’s financial controls. The seventh largest city in California, the diverse City of Long Beach, California (pop. 462,257) attracts nearly 5.5 million visitors per year. Reporting to the Director of Financial Management, this Bureau Manager will function as an internal consultant charged with strengthening controls and financial management throughout the City.

The ideal candidate will be a high energy, hands-on manager who has a passion for process and system improvements coupled with in-depth knowledge of municipal financial operations. A minimum of eight years of combined experience in accounting, auditing, internal controls and/or process engineering is desired. A Bachelor’s degree is required and a Master’s degree and/or CPA license is preferred.
