The City of Vallejo, located in Solano County, is a rapidly changing, highly diverse community located midway between the cities of Sacramento and San Francisco. It is a friendly, active waterfront community with a mild year-round climate and easy access to varied recreational opportunities.
The Assistant Finance Director reports directly to the Finance Director and is responsible for day-to-day financial activities and operations of the Accounting and Commercial Services Divisions within the Finance Department. A key aspect of this role is to provide progressive leadership to the finance team. Creative and resourceful problem solving capabilities combined with an upbeat, “can do” demeanor will be ideal characteristics for this role.
The ideal candidate will have five or more years of progressively responsible professional management level accounting or public finance experience including two years of administrative and supervisory experience. A background of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration or a closely related field is also required. Knowledge of municipal or government finance and possession of a CPA are highly desirable. The salary range for this position is $112,810 - $137,122 annually, DOQ.
