FINANCE DIRECTOR

The City of Burlingame, with approximately 29,000 active community citizens, is located on the highly desirable San Francisco Peninsula, with significant shoreline on the Bay. “The City of Trees” is five minutes from San Francisco International Airport, easy visiting distance to San Francisco, and is a full-service, General Law City with a Council-Manager form of government, with approximately 200 employees and an operating budget of $38 million.

The Finance Director is a crucial and pivotal role, setting and executing the overall financial management strategy for the City as both Budget Officer and City Treasurer. Reporting directly to the City Manager, the Finance Director is a highly visible position serving as the most senior advisor to the City Manager on all matters related to the strategic and long-range financial planning, and oversees and manages the City’s Financial Services Division.

The ideal candidate will have full knowledge of and high expertise in the areas of financial budgets, forecasting, long-range planning, public financing, public and private partnerships, funding financing mechanisms, cash management and investments; and is a seasoned, well established financial leader with excellent communication skills who is expected to possess the following qualifications to be considered as a viable candidate for the position: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in Financial Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field, and five (5) years of increasingly responsible supervisory or management experience in local government financial operations. A Master’s Degree in Finance, Public Administration, or a related field is highly desirable. The salary range for this position is $146,419 - $177,945 annually, DOQ.
