The Inland Empire Chapter of CSMFO is pleased to announce a very special opportunity to hear about the latest initiatives at the State Treasurer's Office from California State Treasurer John Chiang. CDIAC Executive Director Mark Campbell will also brief us on the SB-1029 reporting process for state and local debt issuers.
John Chiang was elected California’s State Treasurer on November 4, 2014. As the state’s banker, he oversees trillions of dollars in annual transactions and manages a $75 billion investment portfolio. Mr. Chiang has had a very busy first 2 ½ years as the Treasurer.
He serves on many governing boards, but of particular interest is his leadership with CalPERS, CalSTRS, and he is the chairman of the California Debt and Investment Advisory Committee (CDIAC). Prior to being elected Treasurer, he served from 2007 to 2014 as California’s State Controller. Mr. Chiang graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in finance and received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
Mark Campbell was appointed by State Treasurer Bill Lockyer to serve as the Executive Director of CDIAC in 2010. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Campbell served as a principal budget analyst with the Department of Finance overseeing the capital expenditure budget for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. In addition, Mr. Campbell represented the Department of Finance on a multi-disciplinary team developing an integrated financial management system for the State of California. He previously worked as a program manager and administrative officer for CDIAC from 2000 to 2006. Mr. Campbell holds a M.B.A and a M.Ed. from the University of California, Davis.
