CSMFO Monterey Bay Holiday Event

"Legislative Update and Making a Difference through Public Service"
The CSMFO Monterey Bay Chapter is honored to host Congressman Jimmy Panetta at our next chapter event.  The Congressman will provide an update on the most recent legislative topics, as well as deliver an inspiring presentation about serving communities.  This presentation is not to be missed.  Time will be provided at the close of the presentation to ask individual questions.

"CalPERS:  Trends, Funding Strategies, and Pension Reform"
Join us for this engaging session as one of the state's top actuaries, John Bartel, partners with the League's pension lobbyist, Dane Hutchings to share emerging information on CalPERS and pension reform.  Learn about the advantages and disadvantages of different funding strategies, which include Section 115 Trusts; direct payments to PERS, reduced amortization schedules, and pension obligation bonds.  This session also includes a robust discussion on the League's efforts to enact pension reform.  Dane will review the different options that are being discussed, collaboration with local government officials; and the timelines and barriers that are associated with the different legislative, judicial, and regulatory alternatives.  There will also be the opportunity to discuss regional impacts and strategies, as we all begin to tackle this obligation.

Sessions:  11:00 - 2:30
