Topic #1: GASB Update

Speaker #1: Brandon Young, Assurance Senior Manager, LSL CPAs

Brandon Young, Assurance Senior Manager for LSL CPAs, oversees engagements and uncovers new ways to help his clients. In addition to being a team player, he often finds himself coaching new employees and clients as they tackle technical matters. His clients include those in state and local governments. He has a particular focus in performing audit engagements and assurance services for municipalities in California. In addition to assisting in the preparation of CAFRs, he also performs value-added procedures to improve processes, solidify controls and make the finance department more organized and efficient.

Topic #2: 7 Solutions for Pension & OPEB Issues 

Speaker #2: Julio Morales, Director, Urban Futures, Inc. 

Julio Morales, is Director in the Orange County offices of UFI (Urban Futures, Inc.), an independent financial advisory firm serving public agencies throughout California. Julio recently joined UFI after returning from a 4-year assignment with the US Treasury in Asuncion, Paraguay. He is a public finance veteran with over 25 years of government and municipal finance experience, having worked as a Finance Director, City Manager, investment Banker, and Financial Advisor. Julio is a registered municipal advisor (Series 50), a former member of the GFOA national Debt Advisory Committee, and has been a guest speaker a number of industry organizations, including CSMFO, CDIAC, GFOA and the League of Cities. He attended the University of Michigan, earned am MPP from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and an MBA in real estate and finance from UCLA.
