Topic #1: The Regional Future of Water
Speaker: Mike McCullough, Government Affairs Administrator, Monterey One Water
Description: In January of 2014, Governor Brown declared a drought state of emergency. While the drought emergency has been lifted, the impacts of the five-year drought emphasized the need for sustainable water solutions. This session will provide information on the water supply for the Monterey Peninsula and northern Monterey County, while also reviewing what local entities are doing to create sustainable water resources.
Topic #2: "Pure Water Monterey Facility Tour and Drinking Water Tasting"
Be one of the first to tour the Pure Water Monterey Advanced Water Purification Facility; and sample the drinking water. This project is the first of its kind to utilize not just wastewater, but stormwater, food industry processing water, and impaired surface waters.
Topic #3: Financing and Impact on Water Rates
Speakers: Fred Marsh, CFO and Business Manager, Monterey One Water and Leslie Strohm, Financial and Business Services Manager, Soquel Creek Water District
Description: After the tour, we will conclude the meeting with a presentation of how the New Pure Water Monterey facility, as well as the Soquel Creek Water District’s Pure Water Soquel facility will impact water regional water rates, along with information on project financing.
