East Bay (SF) Chapter Meeting: 

Topic: “Leading Virtually – Challenges & Solutions for Managing Remote Teams”

Speakers: Victor Shin, Kirsten LaCasse, & Margaret Moggia
Victor K. Shin has over 25 years of financial banking experience currently serving as a Vice President for Bank of the West. Over the years he has had various roles ranging from branch manager, regional business banking manager, product/marketing manager and has over 20+ years of non-profit experience. Currently he is on the board of directors of the Asian Business League of San Francisco since 2001 and currently the President & Chairman of the Board. He is also on the board of directors of a children’s dance academy called the Presidio Dance Academy and he has served as past CFO from 2004-2006 and rejoined in 2013 and Thiebault Method an early childhood education non profit in East Palo Alto. Victor has been a Senior Adjunct Professor at Golden Gate University in San Francisco since 2013 instructing leadership and management and was awarded Adjunct Professor of the Year in 2015. He also has been a consultant for YAY! Education in which he helps Community College Business Majors transition to UC Berkeley School of Business. Victor also has been accepted to the Stanford University Asian American Executive Program class of 2021. He enjoys many activities such as traveling, cooking, photography, a running and most of all being a father of 2 young girls.

Margaret Moggia is the Executive Manager of Finance for West Basin Municipal Water District (District) and has oversight on accounting, treasury, debt management, procurement, and is currently developing a business outreach program to reach out to local and small businesses. Prior to the District, Margaret worked at Coopers & Lybrand as a staff associate to a supervising senior associate focusing primarily on governments and nonprofits. Margaret earned her B.A in Economics from U.C Santa Barbara. She maintains her license as a certified public accountant (CPA) and has received her designation as a Certified Global Management Accountant (CGMA). She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA).

Kirsten LaCasse is the Administrative Services Director for the City of Walnut Creek. She was formerly the Controller for the City of Oakland. Kirsten, a Certified Public Finance Officer, is a dedicated municipal finance professional with over 21 years of municipal finance experience. During her time in Oakland she was instrumental in helping close difficult budget gaps. Kirsten holds a BA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and an MBA from Simmons College Graduate School of Management.
