The City of Tracy is currently recruiting for an Accountant.There is currently one (1) Accountant vacancy in the Finance Department. This position will exercise direct supervision over assigned personnel and must be an accounting professional who is detail oriented, customer service driven and very organized.  It is critical for this position to work effectively with department staff, other City departments, outside agencies/organizations, and to assist other department personnel in assigned duties.

 

Accountants are responsible to perform a variety of complex professional accounting and budgeting duties; plan, organize, and administer finance related programs and projects; direct and coordinate the work of assigned staff; perform analytical analyses and research, develop, monitor, and reporting related to Citywide operating and capital improvement budgets; and perform related work as assigned.

 

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

 

Experience:

Two years of increasingly responsible experience in professional accounting, budget preparation or analysis experience; public agency experience is highly desired.

Education:

Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, economics or a related field.
