Salary:  $6,502.00 - $7,904.00 /month, plus benefits

The City of San Leandro is seeking a Purchasing Technician in the Finance Department.  The Purchasing Technician provides technical assistance in the areas of purchasing, including reviewing contracts, evaluating and analyzing bids, interpreting and applying purchasing policies following established City ordinances and administrative regulations.

The incumbent of this classification is expected to provide customer support to all departments within the City to ensure all purchases comply with City regulations, and establish cost-effective and high-quality procurement standards and procedures that meet all applicable legal requirements.


Education:  Four years of progressively responsible work experience involving purchasing, general office work, and record keeping utilizing computer software programs and with substantial public contact.

Experience: Associate of Arts degree from a community college or equivalent course work in business administration, public administration, management and supervision, or a closely-related field. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in above-cited areas or a closely-related field is highly desired.
