DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

CITY OF ALHAMBRA
Salary:  $141,559.32 - $184,282.92 annually

The Finance Director directs, plans, organizes and administers the operations of the Finance Department including:  budgeting, general accounting, finance and information systems, financial reporting and auditing, treasury and purchasing; serve as general accountant and fiscal agent of the City; ensures compliance with governmental accounting systems and fiscal procedures; responsible for the preparation of the preliminary and final budget, including reviewing proposed departmental budget estimates; directs the preparation of regular and special financial statements and reports; provides support and assistance to City departments for financial and budgetary issues; provides long-term financial planning functions including revenue and operational expense projections; provides recommendations on operational effectiveness measures, and revenue strategies to provide for the ongoing financial needs of the City; provides information and support to the City Manager, City Council, on fiscal matters; presents various financial reports to the City Council; directs the investment of City funds and reviews and implements investment programs; reviews existing and proposed ordinances, statutes, resolutions, and other documents affecting financial administration; directs operations to be consistent with the adopted goals of the City; confers with departments and other agencies regarding financial administration policies and procedures; selects, develops and supervises principal subordinates and directs the selection, placement, training, development and supervision of other employees.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or closely related field and eight years of responsible municipal finance experience, five of which shall have been in a senior level supervisory position.  Experience in long-term financial planning, CPA certification and/or a Master's degree in a related field is highly desirable.
